ADVICE has been issued to the public on Hedgehog Awareness Week.
Cumbria Wildlife are asking animal lovers to make small changes to their gardens to make them safer for hedgehogs.
A spokesperson said: "It's Hedgehog Awareness Week! Our gardens and green spaces are important habitats for these tiny, spiny mammals. Will you help a hedgehog?"
Suggestions include cutting a small gap in the bottom of fences and walls to create a 'hedgehog highway', making a log pile to provide shelter and a source of food, checking long grass and piles of garden waste carefully before cutting and moving, and creating a hedge-hog friendly route out of ponds.
