As the world steadily moves back to a new normal Carlisle’s Rocket Theatre Group has certainly been more than ready to welcome back it’s students.

The Group, which was established in 2016, has continued to deliver their sessions via an online platform during the lockdown but this was the week when they could finally open their studio doors again.

The Rocket Studios are based on the top floor of the Atlas Works in Denton Holme and have seen changes over the last few months.

Owners Jack and Wendy Dunn have reorganised the teaching spaces and social areas to enable them to social distance but still give their students the full Rocket experience of Singing, Dance and Drama classes. The sessions have continued online during lockdown to support the students learning and also to continue their social connections and enable them to keep in touch.

Artistic Director, Wendy, is grateful to be back she said: "We are so lucky to have our own studios that we have had the freedom to redesign to suit our students needs and conform to regulations quite easily.

"We have taken the opportunity to re decorate while we were closed. Our families have appreciated the online session’s but it is so good to be back in person again.

"We always have the attitude of looking at what we can do rather than what we can’t and so we took the opportunity to get in touch with some of our West End contacts and we arranged some amazing workshops.

"The students loved the opportunity of working with these professionals”.

The Group welcomes students as young as 5 years right up to 18 years and now runs over five sessions per week. They are looking forward to working towards their first performances since December 2019 when each Bubble will perform their very own showcase in the neighbouring Cosmic Studio Theatre, hopefully, in July.

“When teaching the Performing Arts it is vital to have an end goal and ours is always a performance of some kind, we are starting work this week on material for the showcases and our students have really embraced their lessons. The positivity, commitment and enthusiasm from them has been impressive! We are so happy to have them all back in person. Our Studios are an inspiring facility but with the children back it is brought back to life.”

The group have had lots of new starters too this week and still have a few spaces left for students aged 5 and over. You can email to arrange a tour.
