THE closing date of Workington Debenhams has been revealed.

The department store will shut its doors for good on May 2, and is one of 27 stores in England and Wales to shut its doors for the final time on May 2 or 4.

Shoppers will be able to bag discounts of up to 80 per cent of fashion and home and up to 70 per cent off beauty and fragrance as the last remaining stock is cleared.

All Debenhams stores have been made Covid-secure, with appropriate hygiene and social distancing measures in place.

A spokesperson for Debenhams said: “With such great bargains on offer, it’s no wonder our stock is selling out incredibly fast.

"Time is running out for shoppers to take advantage of the incredible discounts being offered at these 27 stores.”

Earlier this year it was announced that Debenhams was to close all branches after Burnley-based online retailer Boohoo acquired the brand in a £55million deal.

The chain's remaining stores, including the outlet in Carlisle, have not had an exact closing date confirmed - but they are expected to shut permanently by May 15, once all stock is sold.
