A SCHOOL in Kendal has thanked emergency services after one of its staff was airlifted to hospital on Tuesday (April 20).

North West Air Ambulance’s Helimed 72 landed in Sandylands Park,Kendal, to attend to a staff member from Sandgate School.

Jon Owen, the school business manager at Sandgate School, said emergency services were ‘fantastic’ and that the school quickly notified parents that no pupils were involved.

“It was a member of our staff,” he said.

“We’ve communicated to all of our parents that it was a member of our staff as much to reassure them that it wasn’t their child.”

Mr Owen has now praised the swift action of the air ambulance.

“We would like to add what an amazing job emergency services did taking care of our staff member, because they were absolutely fantastic,” he said.

“The ambulance was here in no time at all and we’re really happy that our colleague got fantastic care.”

A North West Air Ambulance spokeswoman said: “We can confirm that Helimed 72 attended an incident near Sandylands Park in Kendal yesterday at around 10am.

“The incident involved an adult patient.

“North West Air Ambulance transferred the patient by air to hospital.”
