A NEW Online Sale for High End Dairy Genetics takes place this month.

Harrison & Hetherington, the UK’s leading dairy auctioneers, will host the pioneering Online Dairy Sale “The Global Connection”.

This dedicated virtual sale will have consignments from across the world and will see the highest quality show cows, heifers embryos and semen go under the hammer. The auction will go live on Monday, April 19 with bidding commencing on Friday, April 23 and will end Tuesday, April. 27.

This new genetic sale follows on from Harrison & Hetherington’s successful series of online sales and auctions, designed in response to Covid-19 restrictions. This unique online sale will have breeders from around the world give commentary on each lot with insight and knowledge that sometimes does not appear in a sale catalogue.

Already, considerable interest has been received from prospective buyers and sellers across the globe. Glyn Lucas, Senior Dairy Auctioneer for Harrison & Hetherington said: “We are absolutely delighted to be able to now host this exciting new event for the industry, given the year we have all just had. We have all felt the effects of the pandemic making us all feel just that little bit further apart and I hope the Global Connection sale will be an opportunity for us to re-connect and bring our dairy family together again.”

H&H’s annual Dairy Expo event, usually attracting around 7,000 visitors from all over the UK, was postponed until 2022 because of the pandemic.

“It is hoped that this innovative new sale will go some way to reignite excitement across the industry; albeit without the face-to-face sales that traditional live sales embody,” added Mr Lucas.

Meanwhile, the 2021 Borderway UK Agri Expo event will go ahead, following the anticipated end of lockdowns.

If the Government’s roadmap is successful, this highly acclaimed winter livestock showcase will take place on Friday, October 29 2021, at Borderway, Carlisle.
