LAND that could be used as a site for a host of new town centre apartments remains unsold.

The plot at 68 Abbey Road in Barrow, was due to be sold at auction but now the sale has been postponed.

The land available, which sits on the road's junction with Dalkeith Street, has been lying unused for a number of years.

It sits next door to former pub The Knights on the street.

Visualisations show how the new apartment block could be built on the site.

The land has a guide of £79,000.

A listing by SDL Property Auctions said: "The site is located at 68 Abbey Road and has benefit of planning consent for the creation of six two bedroomed apartments and four one bedroomed apartments.

"We feel the site has scope for a higher density development of up to 15 one bedroomed apartments subject to obtaining appropriate planning consent."

It was due to go under the hammer at the end of March.
