A £9 MILLION competition to find 'cutting-edge' ideas to transform the railways has opened.
The Government yesterday launched the First of a Kind contest to "decarbonise the rail network" and support innovations that make the network "cleaner, greener and more passenger-friendly".
Rail minister Chris Heaton-Harris said: "Our railways will underpin this country’s economic recovery and help realise our ambitions of a carbon-neutral future.
"Through initiatives like this, we are investing today to build the railway of tomorrow."
Deadline for bids is March 10 - in 2020, 25 projects shared £9.4m.
