AN ONLINE survey has been launched to understand the views and needs of local people and road users.
The survey, by Cumbria County Council’s Highways Service, is part of a project to develop and improve the highways service, ensuring the network meets the needs of communities, businesses and visitors.
With 10 million visitors coming to Cumbria every year, the council is also keen to ensure the region remains accessible.
Cllr Keith Little, cabinet member for Highways and Transport, said: “I’d urge all drivers and road users of the highway network in Cumbria to complete this short online survey. "Understanding the views and needs of local residents, businesses and commuters is key to ensuring the network is safe, reliable and efficient, and helps us to identify where improvements are required.”
The survey is anonymous, consisting of 18 questions and will take approximately four to five minutes to complete and can be accessed via the county council website and social media channels.
Cumbria has the fourth largest road network in the country, with almost 5,000 miles of carriageway, 3,000 miles of footways and cycleways, 145,000 gullies and 45,000 light columns to maintain all year round.
