A HOMESPUN business has continued to expand, despite the challenges of the Covid-19 pandemic.

Advertise1 is supporting businesses both internationally and locally, with their web development and social media needs. Jon Waite of Maryport, founded the business in April 2015 after reading for a computing degree in Newcastle.

Advertise1 is improving the web and social media presence of small business owners.

Join has branched out to the North East but has not forgotten his roots, recently appointing a new staff member from Cumbria.

Georgia Siddle, who is from Dean, Workington, lives in the area and can work with customers across the county, giving them face to face service and offering client support.

Georgia said: “After years on the road and the world being successfully encountered, I craved being back home in the countryside. Luckily for me, my role is remote so I’ve stayed true to my Cumbrian roots and now work from my home office- a concept a lot of us are becoming acclimatised to.”

She plays a key role in the growing business: “My focus is essentially to advise, assist and listen to our client’s ambitions and goals and help them take the necessary measures to turn those goals into a reality.”

Phoebe Davies from Harrogate contacted Jon in February 2020 to complete her placement at the business. After completing her course at Salford University, Phoebe will work at Advertise1 full time.

She has found working at the business, which began its journey in Maryport, a rewarding experience: “The strong relationship between our team and the companies we work with is what builds the foundation for Advertise1.”

Martin Ellis, who is a Tyneside book publisher and has been an expert in his field for 30 years has worked with Advertise1 for a number of years.

Jon hopes to keep in regular contact with his Cumbrian clients when Covid-19 restrictions allow. He said: “It’s been a bit difficult but Zoom has helped massively. When I can travel back I’ll be in Maryport to visit clients once a fortnight.”
