Seaton Parish Council is hoping that residents and businesses will come together and take part in a united village switch on to mark the start of Christmas.
Councillor Ken Slone has been out and about helping to get some lights fitted in the village to raise some festive cheer.
He said: “Unfortunately this year with the restrictions it was not possible to do the usual enjoyable little light switch on festival.
“So, especially for the kids, to stop them being disappointed, I thought to try and brighten everyone up we would have a ‘Light Up Seaton.’”
The parish council has arranged for the contractors to switch on the lights at 5pm. The Christmas tree lights near to the shops will also be switched on.
Cllr Slone added: “This year Seaton Parish Council is urging all residents and businesses to get behind the ‘Light Up Seaton’ switch on, this Saturday, December 5 at 5pm.”
Cllr Slone said he would like to see residents and businesses switch their lights on too at 5pm, to keep the children entertained.
He said: “This Saturday we are switching on the lights of the Christmas tree by Seaton shops and we want as many people as possible switching their lights on in Seaton at 5pm too. Hopefully some of the shops and the garage might also join in.”
He added: “On behalf of the parish council we would like to thank all the volunteers for their help and support that they have given to the village throughout the year.
We would also like to thank all the frontline workers for helping to make Seaton a safer place.
The parish council would like to wish every family a Merry Christmas and a healthier year for 2021.”
