Cumbria has now entered Tier Two restrictions.

The news was announced last week and the whole of the county has now entered the new restrictions as lockdown eased yesterday.

Readers have had their say on Cumbria being placed into Tier Two.

Graham Bragg said: "When we were under Tier 1 restrictions, before the lockdown, infection rates were still rising across the county. This shows clearly that Tier 1 restrictions weren't tough enough to stop the spread of the virus. If infection rates have gone down recently it's only because we have been under the much tougher lockdown restrictions. Tier 2 is the right level for Cumbria. It's better to take a precautionary approach."

Graeme Tomlinson said: "Entered this lockdown in tier 1, cases in Cumbria are decreasing yet come out of the lockdown in tier 2.

"The government don’t even know where Cumbria is never mind sort out a lockdown tier for us ."

Paul Mackay said: "The Government were already thinking of making all of the North West the same."

Adrian Sharp said: "A thousand different people from a thousand different households can go to an indoor sporting event and 2,000 outdoors, but there has to be no mixing of households indoors and outdoors a maximum of six can meet."

Graham Hampson said: "Despite cases falling in the North West and rising in London, Manchester ends up in tier 3 and London in tier 2."

Patricia Brownlee said: "I can't begin to imagine why London is in the same tier. Though from what I've seen on a news or newspaper website Matt Hancock has been encouraged to tell the councils they can appeal, now whether they'll have the guts to is another matter."
