Blood tests set to be trialled for cancer
A new blood test believed to detect more than 50 types of cancer is set to be trialled by the NHS.
It is hoped that the blood test will detect cancer at early stages.
The NHS could roll-out the new method of detection in England from next year with 165,000 people being offered the test.
From 2024, this could be expanded to 1 million people.
The test was developed by Grail, a Californian firm and it is designed to detect molecular changes in the blood.
A pilot of the new blood test will be launched, funded by Grail, with 140,000 participants between the ages of 50 and 79.
