In what has become a true festive tradition over the past decade, the shoebox appeals run by the Samaritans' Purse through Operation Christmas Child has shown the generosity that can be found in our region.

The appeal, which consists of filling a disused shoebox with goodies for underprivileged children in struggling regions of the globe, has been embraced by individuals both young and old.

In today's gallery, we see the amazing amount of effort that has gone into making sure needy children still are able to experience the joy of this period in Cumbria.

Not only do we see the innate kindness of people of our region but also the community spirit needed in order to come together in a time of need.

As ever, if you spot yourself, get in touch and tell us your memories!
