We’ve been asking readers to tell us the best place to buy a Christmas tree in Cumbria.

Lots of you got in touch on our Facebook and Twitter pages with your recommendations, and the results are in.

We have a mix of places to order from if you are looking to get your decorations up early and local favourites that have proved a hit in previous years. Here are your picks, in no particular order:

INTER FRESH, CARLISLE

A host of readers leapt to recommend this Carlisle delivery service, which will prove popular during lockdown!

MAPA TREES, WETHERAL

The Christmas tree farm, at Brackenbank, was recommended to us by Julie Hetherington on our Facebook page.

She said: “ Fantastic trees and very reasonably priced.”

Leanne Clifford Bell added: “Mapa Trees cut the tree down on the day. Can’t get any fresher. Beautiful trees.”

HOLEBECK FARM, CLEATOR MOOR

News & Star reader Alison Scott was one of several people to recommend the Christmas trees at Holebeck Farm, based in west Cumbria at Cleator Moor.

Paul Seager posted: “Great trees from a local farmer.”

Victoria Beck said: “Holebeck Farm have the most beautiful trees – and delicious sloes.”

MOORHOUSE FARM, CARLISLE

The farm, owned by the Normal Family, was put forward by Jenny Carlile.

She said: “There’s only one place – Christmas trees at Moorhouse.”

BLAITHWAITE HOUSE, WIGTON

Nestled in the countryside, Blaithwaite House, situated near Wigton, won praise from one reader for the quality of their trees.

“It is a family-run business and we make the kids feel special and give them a chocolate lolly!
