An enterprising British Legion Branch has come up with a way to raise funds this year, by making Poppy Masks.

The triple layered poppy designs were the brainchild of branch secretary Angela Kirby, who belongs to the Seascale & Sellafield branch of the Royal British Legion.

She says, “It all started when one of our committee members who works for the Police at Sellafield, brought round some amazing poppy designed material and asked what I could do with this to raise funds for the branch? It was obvious that everyone needs a mask these days and with remembrance season soon to start, and our poppy appeal starting on the 22nd, turning the material into masks was the way to go." The masks are flying out the door she tells us. "at £5 for adults and £4 for children with all the money going to help veterans locally.”

Seascale & Sellafield Royal British Legion now has its own facebook page for more details or you can email jason.rushworth@newsquest.co.uk to get Angela's contact details.

Branch treasurer Anita Jeremy says, " she is amazing for creating these."
