A CARE company has highlighted the hard work of its carers during the coronavirus pandemic with an honours board.

The Twilight Years care company wanted to mark the year 2020 and celebrate the hard work of all 89 workers, who put their lives on the line for those who needed their support.

Sandi Johnson, manager at Twilight Years, said: “I wanted to make this board so that staff and families can look back at 2020 and take pride in what they did.

“So on the plaque is all the names of the staff who worked for us during the pandemic.

“They also received a certificate and a bottle of wine each.

“It was a scary time during lockdown as there was different guidance going around depending on where you were.

“We spent a lot of time reassuring our staff about PPE as we had a good supply, but there were constant stories on the news about the lack of stock in the UK.

“I am glad carers got a spotlight as the pandemic showcased what we do.

“I hope it does make more people consider coming into the carer profession as it is such rewarding work and we play an important role.

“If anyone is interested then they should talk to home care services and care homes about it. I wouldn’t dream of doing anything else." “It does continue to be a scary situation , but we now have two suppliers that we use, just so we are more prepared, just in case a second lockdown does take place and supplies run short again.

“I think the honours board we have is quite unique, I don’t think I have seen them in other care homes in the area.”

All the carers at Twilight Years deserve all the gratitude they have received, much like all the other care workers across the country.

Twilight Years Ltd is a Domiciliary Home Care Agency and was established in 1995 by Michael and Jean Keay, who handed over the family business to their daughter Michelle Geldart in 2002.

Since then Twilight Years Ltd has continued to provide care to the Furness and surrounding areas communities and they have earned an excellent reputation.
