A BIG-hearted Carlisle tot has raised more than £2,500 for charity by taking on a sponsored walk in honour of the grandfather she never got to meet.

Daisy Morrow, three, completed two circuits of Talkin Tarn near Brampton last Saturday, supported by family and friends.

And she has already raised more than £2,500, with money still coming in.

She decided to do the walk to support people with “poorly hearts” after talking to relatives about her grandfather Eddie Morrow, who died of a heart attack in 2016, a week before her parents’ wedding.

The youngster walked with family including mum Emma, dad David, eight-month-old sister Grace and three-month-old cousin Lucie.

She was also joined by 10 of her friends and their families.

Emma said: “She did a lap of Talkin Tarn, had a rest for some ice-cream and then did her final lap.

“She’s raised about £2500 now but we’ve still got donations coming in.”

The money will go to the British Heart Foundation (BHF).

Daisy hit upon the idea of doing the walk after asking questions about her late grandad, who ran a light haulage business in Roweltown and was only 48 when he died.

Before the walk, mum Emma said: “Recently, she’s become interested in our family tree and wanted to know why her grandad was always in pictures.

“My husband and I explained that he lived in the sky because he had a poorly heart.

“Daisy is very inquisitive and wanted to know why people get poorly hearts. We explained that sometimes people’s body parts become so poorly that they can no longer be here.

“Then Daisy asked what would make people better, so we told her about the BHF and how people fundraise for them.

“That’s when Daisy said she’d like to raise some money by doing a big walk.”

The family made a video which they sent to Daisy’s friends, asking if they’d support her by going along and were delighted with the support they received.
