IT’s been all about team work as care teams across the county have battled the coronavirus crisis.

At Leominster-based Services for Independent Living (S4IL) that’s meant teamwork inside the organisation and with other care providers.

The agency has been nominated for the Health Care Team prize in the Hereford Times Health and Social Care Awards.

This year’s awards are set to be something special, acknowledging the dedication, professionalism of our health and care workers during a pandemic, when staff have been put under enormous strain but shone through.

Eleven months ago staff of the Homecare service at S4IL faced personal anxiety when their jobs were transferred between providers.

But they worked together to ensure no disruption to services to their vulnerable clients until the transfer was completed.

And then they were plunged into the Covid crisis.

Throughout the lockdown they have worked across different areas within their own organisation to increase skills and become more flexible.

They have also worked closely with District Nurses and other care providers and the agency is keen to take part in a shared recruitment drive.
