TWO men who were injured in two separate crashes remain in hospital.

Emergency services were first called to the M6 motorway, between Tebay and Shap, shortly before 6pm on July 1.

A man in his early 40s, who was driving a white van, remains in hospital in Preston after suffering serious injuries.

The crash - which police say involved a van overturning - happened on the northbound carriageway of the M6 motorway.

Highways England traffic officers, Cumbria Constabulary, Cumbria Fire and Rescue Service and the North West Ambulance Service were all called to the crash between junction 38 and junction 39.

Meanwhile, a man remains in hospital after a crash on the B5345 at Sandwith on the same night. Police say the man's red Audi A3 left the road and ended up in a nearby field shortly after 11.15pm.

Anyone with information about the second crash should call 101, referencing incident number 274 of July 1.
