Allerdale council has launched a new competition giving people the chance to plan and potentially win their ‘perfect day’ in a beautiful part of Cumbria – once Covid-19 restrictions are lifted.

Visit Allerdale has partnered up Fluid Productions, Borrowdale Gates Hotel, Honister and Keswick Brewing Co., to give one person and a guest the chance to win their perfect day out in the area simply by telling them exactly what that day would consist of.

A spokesman for Allerdale council explained: "Coronavirus has hit the tourism industry hard and although people can’t enjoy an overnight trip to the area at the moment, the Visit Allerdale team wanted to remind people about the amazing landscapes and attractions on offer and get people thinking about what they would like to do when restrictions ease further and businesses fully reopen.

To enter click here and tell the team, which is part of Allerdale Borough Council, what a perfect day in Cumbria would involve - in a maximum of 500 words.

The deadline for entries is midnight on August 16, 2020.

The main prize will see the winners get to experience their ideal day in Allerdale for free alongside a family member or friend.

The day will be filmed by professionals from Fluid Productions and a short video posted on the Visit Allerdale website, to inspire others and showcase what the area has to offer visitors.

The winner will also spend the night at the Borrowdale Gates Hotel.

Runner-up prizes will also be offered.

Prizes will only be redeemable once Government guidelines permit and all of the sponsoring attractions are fully open for business.

John Cook, Allerdale’s tourism portfolio holder, said: “The Allerdale district really does have it all - the Lakes, the Solway Coast, culture, art, adventure – the list is endless. We know how much visitors love to come here and we're gearing up to fully welcome them back with open arms when Government guidelines allow.

“With the tourism industry in Cumbria preparing to bounce back we want people to have one eye on what they’re going to do when they do make their next visit. We want people to be inspired by different itineraries and things to do, so we’re asking for help in pulling together the perfect day in Allerdale. I can’t wait to see what everyone comes up with.”
