FUTURE students are invited to explore their future college despite coronavirus - but not in the way you would normally expect.

Carlisle College is to hold a virtual open day next Thursday (June 25), with the usual tour of the campus swapped for a digital one, as the site responds coronavirus to social distancing measures.

A virtual advice session and subject related sessions will be running throughout the day and future students and their families are invited to attend as many sessions as they'd like on the day.

Tutors will also be on hand to answer any questions.

Carlisle College has more than 100 courses available from entry level through to degrees, ranging from art and design to accounting, business to beauty, media to motor vehicle, Hospitality to Health and Social Care.

Andy Dodds, Director at Carlisle College, said: "Students can really make it at Carlisle College, whether that is to go to University, gain an Apprenticeship or go into employment. All of the courses at Carlisle College prepare students for their next step." and we would encourage everyone to join us at our virtual open day, from the safety of their own home

The virtual open day will take place between 11am and 7pm and applications are open on the Carlisle College website, to secure a place on a course for September this year.

To register for the virtual open day, go to www.carlisle.ac.uk, where a full list of times for each of the sessions, along with joining instructions for the virtual open day are available.

In addition, students do not need to move away to achieve a degree, with Carlisle College’s expanding range of university-level courses bringing higher education programmes closer to home, with programmes in accounting, business, computing, engineering, teacher-training and – new for September 2020 – Aesthetic Practice and Fashion and Media Make-up.

Jane Sullivan, curriculum team manager for Higher Education at Carlisle College, said: “We pride ourselves on giving clear thought to the needs of our students and their studies. For example, at a recent validation of our degree-level computing courses, the college was commended for having a clear and coherent strategy which enables students to study in the local area to support the economy, with tutors who have a passion for their curriculum area.

"We are also able to offer a safe and supportive environment which enables everyone to work and study to the best of their ability. We would welcome you to join us at the virtual open day."
