A NEW food takeaway firm will deliver full English breakfasts to the door six days a week.

Zest Bistro Kitchen, which is based at the Ambrose in Duke Street, is the first in Barrow to offer all-day takeaway breakfasts on Sundays.

The mainly Turkish-inspired takeaway is run by Apo Gomolcan, an experienced chef who moved over to the UK in 2005.

“I’ve worked at Turkish restaurants here since I moved, including one in Barrow, but the opportunity came up for me to do deliveries and run my own business,” he said.

“I came to an agreement with Paul, the owner of the Ambrose, who was happy for me to do it.”

Mr Gomolcan’s team of five at Zest will work round the clock to deliver food from 9am until 8.30pm Tuesday to Sunday.

All-day breakfasts include a full English priced at £7.80, DIY for 80p an item, a £6.90 vegetarian breakfast, as well as breakfast buns priced from £3.30 for an egg bun up to £4.90 for a giant bun containing bacon, sausage, fried egg and a hash brown.

As well as an extensive range of breakfast dishes the menu includes sandwiches, jacket potatoes, starters such as falafel, Turkish sucuk, and halloumi, along with mixed platters, main courses ranging from moussaka to sirloin steak, burgers and milkshakes.

Zest is now available on Barrow Eats with the usual 50p fee and delivery from £2.50.

Although Turkish-born Mr Gomolcan set up Zest with the aim of providing a home delivery service during the coronavirus lockdown, his plan is to continue beyond that period.

“I moved to the UK in 2005 and moved up here to Barrow two years ago,” he said.

“I’m settled here now, and have a baby boy with my wife, but this isn’t just being set up because of the pandemic; it’s a long-term business.”
