INFANT, junior and primary schools across the county and being encouraged to ditch the car and walk or cycle there and back.
National Walk to School Week 2020 takes place between Monday and Friday, May 18 to 22.
Last year, 44 schools in Cumbria took part, collectively saving over 10,000 car journeys in just one week.
This year, the county council have invited schools to join in celebrating the physical and mental health benefits that walking brings to every individual.
The council’s Active Travel team will provide the first 40 schools to confirm their intention to take part with additional classroom packs to support the week.
Each pack contains everything needed to run the challenge for a class of up to 30 pupils:
The deadline for applications to the county council is February 28.
