A SHEEP worrying incident in north Cumbria is being investigated by police.
It happened overnight at some time between February 19 and 20 in a field between Stockdale and Orthwaite.
A Cumbria Police spokesman said a dead sheep was found in the field on the morning of February 20 with injuries suspected to have been caused by a dog.
The sheep was carrying lambs at the time.
Police are now appealing for anyone with information, or anyone who may have witnessed any suspicious behaviour in the area around that time to call PC 2440 on 101, or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
You should quote log 57 of the February 20.
The spokesman added that it is an offence for a dog to be dangerously out of control or to worry sheep and owners should always keep there dog on a lead when walking in rural areas.
