Cumbria Local Enterprise Partnership is looking to appoint a new leader for its Ideas and Innovation Strategy Group.

Giles Archibald, leader of South Lakeland District Council, is stepping down as its chairman.

The group is looking to recruit a new chair, as well as new members, particularly business representatives.

LEP chief executive Jo Lappin said: “CLEP is extremely grateful to Giles Archibald for his work in establishing the group and sorry to see him stand down, due to his other pressing commitments.

“We are therefore in the market for a new chair and would welcome applications from people who are passionate about innovation, Cumbria’s economy and working in partnership to deliver CLEP’s ambitious innovation plans."

The group is one of five set up by the LEP to help develop ideas and strategies for driving productivity in different areas of the Cumbrian economy.

Each group consists of business people alongside representatives from the public, voluntary and community sectors.

Potential members should have significant interest or experience in innovation and experience of operating in these sectors.

Members are likely to spend about one day per month working on the group's activities.

The role of the chair will involve a slightly greater time commitment.

Anyone who is interested can send their CV and covering letter to Jo by Friday, February 28.

They can be emailed to jo.lappin@thecumbrialep.co.uk

Applicants may be asked to come for a follow up interview.
