Plans have been revealed for 40 homes to be built in Abbeytown.
David Wright, of Gleeson Homes in Penrith has applied to Allerdale council for permission to build the homes on land next to The Wheatsheaf Inn on Abbey Road.
The proposals is for six two-bedroom homes, 26 three-bedroom and eight houses with four or more bedrooms to be built on the 1.87-hectare site.
Gleeson Homes said 25 per cent of the homes would be affordable.
This would mean the two-bedroom homes would be sold for no more than £102,995 and four of the three-bedroom homes would be available for £118,553.
People have a chance to submit their comments to the council on the proposal until February 14.
