A CARLISLE mechanic is offering a solution to workers who haven’t got the time to take their vehicle to the garage.

Carl Wills, 32, has launched a mobile service so he can bring the garage to them, by offering repairs, inspections, services, diagnostics and MOTs at locations convenient to his customers.

He only launched the business this month but is already in high demand.

He thinks he is the only mobile domestic mechanic in the city.

Carl , of Andover Close, has been a mechanic for 17 years, working for businesses across the city.

He said: “Having worked in garages for a long time I reached the point where I wanted to start my own business.

“Feedback from customers in my previous roles was that they often found it difficult to make the time to get to a garage, which are mainly open during working hours only. Well, their customers are working too.

“Making an appointment, dropping your car off, getting a courtesy car – or not – to carry on your day, having to go back and then maybe do it all again if your car needs work can be time-consuming.

“People who work nine to five or shifts don’t have time. Busy parents who have to do the school run or toddlers to look after don’t have the time.

“This is a way to take care of the essentials and make sure you are driving around

“I had seen mobile mechanics in places like the North East and in the south of the country, but couldn’t see anything like it here.

“So, I thought there was a gap in the market for a mobile mechanic in the city and set up CRZ Mobile Mechanics.

“The timing was right.”

His partner Rebecca gave birth to the couple’s first child Zac last year.

Carl is hoping the flexibility of being self-employed will allow him to spend more time with them.

He added: “Being a new father, I wanted to be able to spend more time with my family and starting my own business will help me to have a better work-life balance.”

He called it CRZ Mobile Mechanics as the initials refer to him, Rebecca and Zac.

He said the response he has had to his new business has been phenomenal.

He added: “ The idea of CRZ is that I can carry out repairs, servicing and inspections wherever is most convenient for people.

“The response I’ve had so far has been overwhelming.

“There’s been lots of support on social media including Facebook and I’m receiving regular messages on there from people needing assistance and booking appointments.

“I am absolutely delighted and hope it continues to grow.”
