Workington’s newly elected MP Mark Jenkinson has raised infrastructure improvements and boosting skills and training as the key issues in his constituency during a meeting with Northern Powerhouse Minister Jake Berry MP.

Mr Jenkinson, who swept to power in December’s General Election also raise a range of measures needed to improve the region’s economy.

Speaking after the meeting he said: "I want to see the towns and communities in my constituency thrive. 

“That is why I welcomed the meeting with Jake Berry MP to discuss areas that would benefit from investment which would improve our local economy and make the daily lives of my constituents better.

“I used the meeting to impress upon Government that improved infrastructure and a wider range of jobs and training opportunities on our doorstep would ensure that we build a skilled workforce and attract good businesses to our region which, in turn, would strengthen our local economy.”
