WHINLATTER Forest has closed to visitors and cancelled their late-night Christmas event due to severe winds forecast by the Met Office for the area.
The weather forecaster says the wind speed is set to reach beyond 45mph at midday, peaking at 50mph at 6pm this evening/
A spokesman from Whinlatter Forest said: "We are closed today due to the predicted severe weather.
"The Visitor Centre, Christmas Tree Sales area, Cyclewise , Siskins Cafe & Go Ape will all be closed today.
"Our late night Christmas event is also cancelled this evening."
