THE county’s first-ever health and fitness expo will take place early next year.

The show will be held across two days at the Rheged Centre in Penrith on February 1 and 2.

Named ‘FIT Cumbria’, the expo aims to provide athletes and amateurs with an opportunity to expand their knowledge and discover what the health and fitness industry has to offer in the region.

The founders of Fox Red Events, Wiz Lees of Wiz Lees Fitness and Leigh-Ann Newburn from Yogi in the Lakes, are behind the expo.

It is the second large-scale event to have been organised by the Eden-based business partners, who launched the Eden Escape Festival at Mains Farm in Kirkoswald in June.

Wiz said: “The aim of FIT Cumbria is to create an opportunity for people to discover new classes, clubs and products by bringing together the best of the industry under one roof.

“We know that there will be lots of people hoping to get fit in 2020 and by creating this one-stop health and fitness shop, we can help them find their motivation and an activity that works for them.

“It’s also a chance for more experienced athletes to test new kit, try new products and listen to some inspiring talks.”

Attendees can expect an action-packed weekend, with a full timetable of classes from Yoga to HIIT and talks and skills workshops designed to inspire and inform. There will also be a ‘FIT Marketplace’ where ticket holders can meet the trainers, check out new products and try new kit.

Leigh-ann Newburn said: “The event will showcase some of the regions best instructors, trainers and health and fitness brands, but will also bring some big and exciting national names to Cumbria, such as Lululemon and Alpkit.

“There’ll be something for everyone and lots of opportunities to try something new. We can’t wait.” Visit www.fitcumbria.co.uk to buy tickets.
