A PATIENT left frustrated by not being able to leave a psychiatric clinic in Carlisle caused more than £1,000 worth of damage.

Rebecca Peacock, 35, of Kentmere Grove, Morton, was prosecuted after the incident at the city’s Carleton Clinic on February 1.

She admitted causing criminal damage.

The court heard that she had been due to be discharged but she then damaged a table, blinds, a chair and curtains.

Lauren Heasley, for Peacock, said that when the defendant realised there were 10 people due to attend her discharge meeting she became anxious and decided not to go.

She was then told she would not be discharged.

“She felt this was completely unfair,” said Miss Heasley. District Judge Gerald Chalk imposed an 18-month conditional discharge but told Peacock, who wept throughout the hearing, she must pay for £1,179 for the damage that she caused.
