A group of award nominated Cumbrian businesswomen have travelled to London to visit local MPs.

Alison Magee-Barker, owner of Lake District hospitality and tourism consultancy AJ Lakes, made the trip with nine other women yesterday.

Alison and the nine other women who accompanied her are all finalists in the annual Enterprise Vision Awards 2019.

They met Westmorland and Lonsdale MP Tim Farron and Copeland MP Trudy Harrison to talk about women in business, and business in Cumbria.

Previously, Alison has also organised events including introducing award nominees to High Sheriff Marcia Reid-Fotheringham at an afternoon tea.

Alison, who is a finalist in the training and coaching category in the awards, said: “I am so proud of my fellow finalists and I wanted to make sure their journey through the awards process was as rewarding as mine last year.

“Throughout my experience I was fortunate to meet a host of influential and supportive people along the way so I am delighted to assist all the Cumbrian finalists to shine, organising events to not only support each other but to introduce them to Parliament and the new high sheriff of Cumbria.

“Cumbrian businesses have so much to offer and when we work together like this we can help showcase this wonderful county even further afield.”

Winners of the awards will be announced on September 27 at the Winter Gardens in Blackpool.
