A distillery has been selected to take part in a nationwide business event.

Shed 1 Distillery, in Ulverston, is one of this year’s ‘Small Biz 100’ - a selection of small businesses which will be highlighted in the run up to Small Business Saturday on December 7.

In the 100 days running up to Small Business Saturday, the campaign will spotlight each of the Small Biz 100.

Founded in 2016 by husband and wife team Andy and Zoe Arnold-Bennett, Shed 1 Distillery is based in a garden shed.

It joins hundreds of previous Small Biz 100 businesses, which have been announced by the campaign since its UK launch in 2013.

It will be put in the spotlight on September 18 and intends to celebrate by launching a new Blackcurrant and Licorice Gin Elixir.

Andy said: “It’s a great honour for our little distillery to be chosen for this excellent initiative.

“It really flies the flag for small, independent businesses across the UK, and makes us feel that what we’re doing is really worthwhile.”

Director of Small Business Saturday, Michelle Ovens MBE said: “Small Business Saturday’s increasing popularity means it was harder than ever to choose just 100 of this country’s incredible 5.6 million small businesses to showcase, but we believe those we have chosen are true representatives of the diverse, creative and inspiring heroes at the heart of our communities.”
