A Cumbrian tour operator has been nominated for a national travel award.

Archipelago Choice, based in Keswick, has been nominated for the Best Tour Operator to the Iberian Peninsula & Islands award in the 2019 British Travel Awards.

The winners are voted for by the public with voting closing on September 30.

Archipelago Choice was launched in 1998, and offers holidays to the nine Portuguese islands of the Azores, as well as Cape Verde, Madeira Saõ Tomé and Príncipe.

To mark its twentieth anniversary the company launched bespoke activity and wildlife holidays to Baja California, Costa Rica, Cuba, Gabon, Ireland, Namibia and mainland Portugal.

“We’re all keen travellers at Archipelago Choice and the key to a successful holiday is hands-on personal experience,” said managing director Ian Coates.

“Our holidays are put together with great care, using our extensive knowledge of the destinations we offer and our own experience of travelling around them.

“For us, flexibility and a good ear are essential requirements for planning any successful holiday.

“Having won Best Small Holiday Company to the Iberian Peninsula and Islands category for the past three years, we’re absolutely delighted we’ve been nominated again in this category.”

The winners of the awards will be announced at the BTA Gala Awards Dinner, held in London, on November 27.

People can vote for the business by going to the British Travel Awards website.
