An opportunity for people to “escape the everyday” through cookery and creative experiences is now available in Cumbria through an exciting new business enterprise.

The Create Escape (Cumbria) ltd, based in a picturesque farmhouse in Hale near Milnthorpe, has opened its doors to south lakes residents who want to get creative with their cooking.

Led by business parters Angela Favell and Deborah Clark, already lead a number of workshops on a wide range of topics from photography, felting and ceramics to somatic exercise.

The business partners met five years ago when, through the Cumbria Chamber of Commerce Business Start-Up Support Scheme programme. The two instantly bonded over their love of food and cookery, both having a wealth of experience in teaching cookery skills, and a lasting friendship developed.

Since November the pair have been busy renovating the farmhouse and creating an exciting calendar of events, which has already begun.

From chalking painting to learning who to making tapas and canapes the workshops are designed to be fun, inspiring and relaxing.

The first workshops including Thai Cookery, Aromatherapy products and Creative Writing have all been a great success with the first set of customers, ‘escapees’, who were delighted by the level of care and detail put into making each day as relaxing and indulgent as possible.

On arrival customers are welcomed with home-baked treats and coffee followed by by a two course lunch, including wine, between events and then afternoon tea before their departure from the idyllic farmhouse.

Between sessions, the beautiful gardens with their stunning views provide a tranquil setting for further relaxation.

“There’s been a shift. People don’t necessarily want to buy more ‘stuff’ for themselves or their loved ones, they are more excited by great experiences,” said Ms Favell.

“And that’s what we offer, fantastic experiences that bring fun, relaxation and a sense of well-being. A true escape from the everyday”

2019 BBC MasterChef winner Irini Tzortzoglou, of Cartmel, will also be joining the team from later in the year.
