GROWTH in professional services has led to new opportunities for a vibrant, local further education college to expand its existing team of Accounting Lecturers.

Carlisle College provides a range of Accountancy courses from Level 2 to Level 4 accredited through the Association of Accounting Technicians (AAT), with ambitions to grow provision at a higher level.

Joe McGraw, Director of HR, says: “This is an exciting time for new recruits to join the College, to help shape this growth and develop the next generation of accountants. Plans to grow provision at a higher level is aimed at ensuring talent stays in the local area.”

The College is in the heart of Carlisle, and offers an extensive range of further and higher education, professional qualifications and community programmes, from entry level to Degree.

It is at the forefront of the regional skills agenda, and has a long track record of working with partners to provide education and training across Cumbria. Building the region’s workforce is a key strategic objective of the College as it looks to create genuine pathways and careers for people of Carlisle and its surroundings.

Andrew Dodds, Director of Marketing & Business Development, says: “Accountancy provision is part of our professional services offer, and we have experienced successful growth built upon a strong reputation. We now have more than 100 apprentices at a range of leading local employers as well as part-time and full-time learners.

“The College also boasts very successful achievement rates, and we are very proud that one of our students was an AAT Apprentice of the year in 2018.”

The College is looking for people who have the skills and the passion to train the next generation of accountants in a learning environment that is as great to teach in as it is to learn.

Mr. McGraw says that teaching experience is not essential for the role as full training can be provided through its existing teacher training programme and supportive induction/mentoring package for new teaching staff.

Carlisle College offers an excellent pension scheme, generous annual leave (up to 53 days) plus a wide range of benefits.
