Cumbria Local Enterprise Partnership is urging employers in the county to consider employing people from the armed forces and veterans as the nation prepares to mark Armed Forces Day tomorrow.

The LEP is supporting the work of the Career Transition Partnership, which provides resettlement services for those leaving the Royal Navy, Army, Royal Air Force and Royal Marines.

The CTP is a partnering agreement between the Ministry of Defence and Right Management Ltd, global career management and outplacement specialists.

Craig Ivison, Cumbria LEP head of employment and skills, said: “Service leavers make highly skilled, committed and capable employees, and have a wide range of transferrable skills.

“Not surprisingly, they’re in big demand by many companies and organisations such as CTP do a fine job in matching employers with employees through their no fee employment service.

“There are currently around 80 Service leavers registered in Cumbrian postcodes at the CTP’s local regional office. However, this number rises significantly when that area is increased for those willing to travel and work in areas surrounding Cumbria."
