A Cumbrian accountancy firm will sponsor a festival of rugby later this month.

Lamont Pridmore is co-sponsor of the inaugural Border City Sevens Rugby Festival in Carlisle.

Hosted by Carlisle Rugby and co-sponsored by steel and industrials supplies specialists, Thomas Graham, the event will take place June 28 and 29.

Held at the club’s ground in Warwick Road, the festival will include locally brewed beer, food and live music alongside the seven-a-side games.

Lamont Pridmore's staff are keen supporters of local rugby.

Graham Lamont, chief executive of Lamont Pridmore, said: “A successful rugby team has to have many of the skills required to run a successful business; great team spirit, high levels of motivation, specialist job skills and a clear game plan.

“Players need to be agile and quick to respond to the changing situation around them, which is why the game is so similar to running a business. The key spirit of the sport and the tenacity of players are admirable characteristics that all businesses should aspire to replicate."

Chris Lamont, a partner and the managing director of the firm’s office in Carlisle, added: “We are all really looking forward to the Border City Sevens Rugby Festival and can’t wait to see who takes the top prizes home on the day. I hope this will also inspire our own next generation as my two sons also play for the Carlisle junior rugby teams.”
