An interactive event to help address Cumbria’s digital future is being held later this month.

Speakers from London, Manchester and Cumbria will come together at the LA23NET Alternative Futures event at Brathay Hall on June 21.

Organiser, PR firm Flock, has called it an ‘anti-conference’ and said it aims to be a rallying cry for Cumbrian businesses.

It says tech and digital has an impact on all industries and businesses need to work faster and smarter to keep up to speed but to be at the forefront of change.

How businesses interact with smartphones, transportation, their current and future workforce, navigation, communication and each other are all up for discussion at the experiential event.

Janett Walker, co-founder of Flock, said: “We’ve jokingly called it the anti-conference because it’s such a hands-on day.”

People will be able to explore giant ‘conkers’, which can be used as workspaces or accommodation, use global mapping app What3Words and experience virtual reality, as well as listen to the speakers, who will explore what a digital future means.

It takes place from 1.30pm to 6.30pm.

Tickets, at £35, are available from
