A LONG-SERVING radio show presenter has confirmed he has left Carlisle-based station CFM.

Andy Gregory, who has been with the station since 2012, and was the host of its afternoon show from 3pm to 7pm for the last six years, has made the departure to pursue other passions.

And he has praised the amazing time he has had broadcasting in Cumbria.

He said: “My time at CFM has been the happiest of my radio career and has provided me with some amazing experiences.

“It’s been a thrilling ride and I’d like to thank all the listeners who have joined me on this incredible journey, along with the many fantastic people I’ve worked with over the years.”

Bosses at CFM told the News & Star that Andy, who has not been on the air for several weeks, left the station on Tuesday, May 7.

They added that his departure was unrelated to an announcement about the ending of locally produced weekend shows from July.

Pete Moss and Josh Howells, who separately present a Saturday and Sunday show between 12pm and 4pm respectively, will hang-up their headphones for the final time in those slots on July 6 and 7.

CFM’s regional content director, Tom Haynes said: “Andy has been the most brilliant presenter on CFM and host of Drive for the last six years.

“From all of us at CFM we wish him all the best on his next adventures.”

An interim drivetime programme will be hosted by a rotation of different radio DJs in the meantime while the team at the station make arrangements for the show moving forward.

A spokesperson from Bauer radio, the company who own CFM, said: “We will share details once we have them.”
