Police, coastguards and RNLI volunteers were called last night after concerns were raised about a woman close to the water at Harrington.

A Cumbria police spokesman said the call was made at about 7pm.

The Workington RNLI team was altered by Belfast Coastguard and asked to launch the inshore lifeboat to assist.

Whitehaven Coastguard and Maryport Coastguard were also alerted.

But a police spokesman said officers who attended found that everything was in order and there was no reason to be concerned about the woman's welfare.

The RNLI crew was stood down prior to launch.

The spokesman added: "The report was made in good faith."
