A video, marking the first birthday of an organisation dedicated to addressing gender balance in the nuclear industry, has been released.

The Women in Nuclear (WiN) Cumbria team celebrated its first birthday on International Women’s Day by holding an event that looked forward to the next 12 months of transformation for the region.

Since then, WiN Cumbria has won a Northern Power Women Award, where it was described as a ‘powerful movement’ helping to deliver targets laid out in the Nuclear Sector Deal.

Claire Gallery-Strong, chair of WiN Cumbria, said: “Our first birthday event was a way for us to move the conversation to the next level and see what we can do next to make real changes to gender inequality.

“We look forward to continuing our mission to create an inclusive and fair environment that helps attract, retain and build a diverse workforce of the future, for Cumbria and the UK.

“I urge anyone, male or female, with an interest in helping to drive gender balance in the area, to join us.”
