A pioneering Swedish company, with a state-of-the-art facility in Cumbria, is looking to a bright future by making significant investments into their Mill Reliability Programme.

The Iggesund Paperboard mill, which produces premium paperboard under the brand Incada, is located in Workington, to the west of the picturesque Lake District.

The aim of the programme - now in its third year – is to maximise output, and has, to date, completed significant work, while learning many lessons - including asset criticality and maintenance strategy reviews, planning and scheduling improvements, and lubrication management.

Much more is planned in the near future, and Head of Engineering, Mike Tinnion, says: “In simplistic terms, the Mill Reliability Programme aims to maximise our output through a combination of defined processes and procedures, whilst always considering the heart of any organisation - our workforce experience and competence.”

The company, a member of the Holmen Group, is an equal opportunities employer that values its employees, with approximately 400 co-workers at the Workington site, and is part of a global workforce of around 3,000 in 13 countries.

The first paperboard was produced from the Workington mill in 1966, and, in 2016, the site celebrated 50 years of production. Since 2013, the mill has been powered almost entirely by fossil fuel free energy.

There are a number of exciting vacancies at the site for individuals who want the opportunity to challenge themselves, and make a positive impact with a customer-orientated business.

As a result of the success of the Mill Reliability Programme, Iggesund Paperboard is looking for an experienced Reliability Engineer to join the team.

The position is a newly-created role, within a dedicated team, that aims to progress the great work already begun by the Engineering Development Managers.

Mr Tinnion says: “The role of Reliability Engineer will be to embed and sustain the work delivered to date by the Engineering Development Team, and to support, identify, and realise further improvements.”

The incumbent will be expected to lead maintenance reliability improvements, and assist in asset criticality and maintenance strategy studies, whilst leading a team of Condition Monitoring Technicians.

This position is integral to the Mill Reliability Programme and, as a valued member of the team, you will use root cause analysis, failure mode effects, and criticality analysis, to ensure that the mill operates to its full potential.

“We are looking for a highly capable individual who can build relationships, as well as having the technical experience to fully embed the reliability programme,” said Caroline Hamilton, Mechanical Engineering Manager. “Iggesund prides itself on the opportunities it extends to all employees, and, due to internal promotion, this isn’t the only exciting vacancy we are recruiting for at the moment.”
