A WOMAN has denied any knowledge of a drugs operation that was going on at her home.

Avril Fallows, 47, of Wedgewood Road, Flimby, is on trial at Carlisle Crown Court charged with conspiracy to supply heroin between September 2017 and October last year.

On day five of the trial yesterday, Fallows took to the dock to give evidence.

Stuart Brian Hardy, 28, who is from Carlisle, is also on trial accused of running a heroin operation from his prison cell between November 6, 2017 and October 5, 2018.

His dad and Fallow’s partner, Stuart Lee Hardy, 48, is also charged with conspiracy to supply heroin - a charge he has admitted.

Prosecutor Brendan Burke asked Fallows if she regretted becoming involved with the Hardy family, given that she was now on trial for conspiracy to supply heroin.

She said: “Sometimes, yes.”

Mr Burke asked Fallows if calling and texting Hardy junior in prison worried her given that you were not supposed to have a mobile phone in prison.

Fallows said: “No, not really no. I thought it was allowed. I’d never known anyone in prison before.”

Mr Burke said: “Did you feel comfortable talking to him given that he’s a Class A drugs dealer?”

Fallows said: “Yeah, because he’s alright to talk to.”

The court earlier heard how 270g of heroin was found on a coffee table at the address.

Fallows said she did not know it was there. “I had not noticed the drugs on the coffee table. I didn’t spend much time in that room in the morning.

Mr Burke said: “Do you agree or disagree that there were a lot of visitors to your house?”

Fallows, who is on bail, said: “There were a few visitors. I thought they were there to collect tobacco.”

The trial continues.
