A 20-year-old man has been fined £135 for driving without due care and attention on the A595 Loop Road in Whitehaven.

Robbie Craig Johnstone, of Earls Road, Bransty, Whitehaven, admitted the charge.

His case was dealt with by Carlisle's magistrates' court last week.

The court heard on August 10 he was driving a Ford Fiesta when his wheels strayed over the central line of the carriageway causing a police vehicle to "alter its road position".

As well as the fine the court endorsed Johnstone's licence with licence with three points.

He must also pay £85 in costs and a £30 victim surcharge.
