A family-run health and safety consultancy is celebrating a move to new premises.

Woodward Safety Health and Environment has moved from its Carlisle base to a new training suite in Energus, Lillyhall.

Offering health and safety training across the country, the firm is headed up by Tom and Christine Duggan and their sons James and Tom.

They have trained hundreds of people since the firm began in 1993, offering courses to military personnel coming out of the armed forces to help them find new careers once they leave the service. The company hopes it will soon expand this service across the north.

The firm also works with Sellafield and has just been awarded a new safety contract via the LINC framework for the nuclear complex’s workers.

Tom junior said: “The health and safety world is constantly evolving and there is always so much to learn. It’s not about stopping people doing things – it has a bad reputation for that – but making sure they do it safely.

We’re really happy to be at Energus.

“We had outgrown our Carlisle premises and this allows us to have our training room on site.

“We are also keeping our presence in Carlisle, as we will be going into partnership with Eden Valley Hospice to use its facilities and also offer its staff training.

“We also offer an associate scheme to make health and safety training as accessible as possible.

“People come to us for training then are qualified to deliver courses within their own organisation.”
