A Carlisle man has appeared before magistrates accused of seriously assaulting his partner by pouring boiling water over her.
Lee McCutcheon, 27, of Lowther Street, has also been charged with two allegations of falsely imprisoning a person - one of the alleged victims being his partner and the other a man.
According to prosecutors, the defendant committed all three offences, including the alleged wounding by scalding, on March 17 at a property in the Stonegarth area of Morton.
The defendant appeared briefly before magistrates at the city's Rickergate court building but his defence lawyer John Smith said McCutcheon would not at this stage be entering any plea to the three allegations.
Magistrates sent the case to Carlisle Crown Court for a hearing on April 26. In the meantime,
McCutcheon magistrates remanded McCutcheon in custody.
