Cumbrian businesses looking to supply products and services to Pirelli have the chance to meet the company face-to-face.

Cumbria Business Growth Hub’s Supply Chain Opportunity Club has organised a meet-the-buyer event at Pirelli’s Carlisle tyre factory on Tuesday April 16.

SMEs can find out how to become an approved supplier, get one-to-one sessions with Pirelli’s buying team and tour the Dalston Road site.

Murat Tuzer, purchasing director at Pirelli, said: “We will meet local businesses to exchange information and possibly identify potential business partners.

“This is a great opportunity to support the local supply chain and encourage businesses to engage with us.”

Pirelli wants to meet engineering and construction companies, and firms able to provide pipe fitters, machinery movers and installers, fabricators, painters and decorators, racking, flooring systems, and heating, ventilation and air conditioning.

The event follows a successful session with construction company ENGIE in Penrith on Monday.

ENGIE has secured contracts with the social housing landlord Home Group and is building in Carlisle, Penrith, Cleator Moor and Sedbergh.

Operations manager Alan Holt said the company was looking to engage local sub-contractors.

He added: “We need to understand what they can deliver for us, their capabilities and their track record. This event was about starting a dialogue between them and us.”

The club was launched last year to help SMEs win work with larger organisations. To register for the Pirelli event, email eva@cumbriachamber.co.uk
