Some of the biggest business names in Cumbria are involved in seminars and workshops at this month’s North West Hospitality Show.

The opening session will be hosted by The Family Business Network’s Sue Howorth, who will be in discussion with representatives from the Department of International Trade and the University of Cumbria, on topics relating to Business in 2019.

The team from NFU Mutual will be on hand for the duration of the show (February 27 and 28) not only in the Exhibition Hall, but they will also be hosting a ‘drop in’ clinic for people who would like to have a confidential one-on-one with one of their experts.

If you are looking for advice on insurance, pensions, or investments, then a free consultancy with them may prove to very worthwhile.

The opening morning continues with a session introducing Cumbriashare to the region - an online platform that aims to bring together businesses, and form a substantial resource pool for the people of Cumbria to benefit from.

The Lake District Foundation will be discussing ‘A sustainable approach to tourism in a World Heritage Site’, with contributions from Director Sarah Swindley, Foundation Ambassador Dr Kate Rawles, and hotelier Johnathan Kaye.

Day one concludes with a Masterclass from This Is Cumbria, for Food & Drink businesses to learn how to build up their profiles in the business world.

Day two kicks off with an early-morning get-together hosted by Paul Caunce, from North West Food & Drink Means Business, giving everyone a boost before the doors open to the trade once more. This is followed by The Family Business: The Next Generation, with Sue Howorth hosting an interview with some of the region’s ‘younger’ entrepreneurs, including Izzy Whitehead, from Hawshead Relish, and Yasmine Hunter from Grasmere Gingerbread.

The discussion will revolve around their ambitions for the family business going forward, their current roles, and where they desire to be in the future, what the next steps will be for the business, and even ‘to sell or not to sell’.

The final get-together of the show is hosted by the Pink Link Network as they launch the 2019 Enterprise Vision Awards, and with many Cumbrian winners over the last few years, these annual awards are proving to be a very successful ‘seal of approval’ for businesswomen across the North West.

Contributions for the This Is Cumbria session will be from Maria Whitehead from Hawkshead Relish and Keith & Jackie Jackson from Thomas Jardine.

Details for all the sessions can be found at www.nwbh-show.co.uk/workshops-seminars.

The show runs from 10am to 4pm on February 27 and 28, at The Exhibition Hall, J36 Auction centre at Crooklands.
