Businesses are being invited to a free workshop to help them reduce their energy costs and lower their carbon footprint.

Eco-Innovation Cumbria will host the event on February 5 at Sunbeams Music Centre, in Redhills, Penrith.

It will look at ways small and medium sized businesses can use heat recovery programmes to cut their energy output.

The workshop will include technical information and a site visit to a local company. Industrial heat recovery is a process by which heat generated in an industrial process is recovered and used for heating or cooling.

Tim Gilmore, of Gilmore Stones Associates, will lead the technical elements of the workshop.

He is a chartered engineer, specialising in building services with practical applications across a wide variety of settings, including residential, healthcare, commercial and public sector buildings.

The workshop runs from 8.30pm to 2.30pm and is particularly suited to small food manufacturers, restaurants, hotels and laundries.
